I found the wikis are an very interesting phenomanon. The good thing about it is anyone can get involved and it is a collection of knowledge and ideas. But the negative side about this excitement of getting involved is quality control of the posts. As a reader of wikipedia for example, I sometimes hesitate to use the information from that website because of the uncertainty of the accuracy of the information.
As for the applications of wikis, there would be a lot, such as specialty websites for coin collectors and all kinds of club members.
